Library

Our library, spread over several rooms at the Dante, holds a large collection of books in Italian and English and is open to all members of the Brisbane Dante Alighieri Society. Whether you are a beginner, a student of the language or a native speaker, there is something for you.

Borrowing

The librarians are in the library on Monday and Wednesday between 12 and 2 pm. However, you may borrow even when the librarians are not there. Just write your name and the date on the card inside the book and place it in the box provided. You may borrow a number of books for up to a month. To return a book, place it within the box provided.

To help you select a book, browse our collection online (click above). You can search using the title of the book or the author. You can also use tags such as historical novel, Sicily, Premio Strega, Renaissance, short story, play script, Italian film, memoir, emigration, travel guide, World War II, giallo, comic, recipe to aid your search.

Helping our library

Volunteers to the library on Monday or Wednesday afternoons are warmly welcomed.

We accept donations of good quality books in Italian or with Italian themes and topics. Please contact the Dante Alighieri Society Brisbane.

We also have a display in the lobby of books culled from our collection. You are invited to take any that interest you and leave a donation which will go towards buying new books and library supplies.
